Waterfall City
Halfway down the Polongo River sits Waterfall City, Dinotopia's western center of culture and learning. It has fallen a little from its glory since the trade routes to Chandara were closed. Waterfall City has always been a mecca for the island's artists and craftsmen who come to take advantage of the library, the Musician's Inn, the Concert Hall, and the city's many museums and galleries. The noise and the mist generated by the falls are so powerful that they are a constant presence in the city's atmosphere.

Bilgewater
This village is made of three sailing ships upended, their bowsprits joining to form a canopy between them. Bilgewater began life with the wreck of a small fleet of English galleons escaping the Spanish Armada in 1638. The hulks were floated, pulled overland, and raised in their present position near the Splendine Forest.

Sauropolis
The capital of Dinotopia, on the eastern shore of Dolphin Bay, Sauropolis was designed and built by dinosaurs, who prefer the Roman style, which is readily visible in its broad avenues, many arches, heavy use of marble, and grand (not to mention ever so slightly pretentious) monuments. Every major structure has an arched entry fifty feet high to accommodate the larger citizens. Smaller creatures find their way up ladders to perches or nest baskets inside steeples and domes.

Ruhmsburg
Once the jewel of the Belt Road, Ruhmsburg is a ruined city that suffered from the loss of trade and from a series of earthquakes that have brought down its once-magnificent architecture. The Ruhmsburg Bridge is the only feature still largely intact. There, in a makeshift house atop one of the crumbling towers, lives Cornelius Marzurka and his Therizinosaurus, Henriette.

Jorotongo
Jorotongo is one of Dinotopia's peregrine villages, never staying in one place on the map. Every few years the entire settlement is taken apart and rebuilt in a new location. The people of Jorotongo descended form a group of Puritans on the Sunflower, a sister ship to the Mayflower. The Sunflower left England in 1620 but was lost at sea and never accounted for in the world outside.

Khasra
This fortified desert city lies at the crossroads of several ancient trade routes and is famous for its waters, drawn from the Subamu River, which courses through caverns deep underground. It is the home to Dinotopia's best mathematicians and masters of tile work. The Kentrosaurus bakery is known for its torus-shaped bread loaves. In its market, where sums are worked on a giant dinosaur-mounted abacus, the visitor can experience the bewitching aromas of the curries from Meeramu, the sweet fragrance of wood in the lute maker's workshops, and the fruity tang of the oranges from Fimli.

Ebulon
One of the seated colossi made as a gift from King Ogthar to Queen Almestra during the Fifth Kingdom of the Chandaran civilization, this desert monument is hollowed out for habitation. At different times in its history it has been the home of strutter-men, mystics, and farmers, but now it is the headquarters for some of the advanced flying training of Will Denison, Sylvia Romano, and other young skybax pilots.

Blackwood Flats
Visitors to this region are the prey of biting insects, poisonous snakes, and carnivorous saurians, including the tiger-striped Allosaurus, which nests here, and the red-faced Tyrannosaurus, a scavenger. A careful explorer might be able to survive with good camouflage and a light step.

Thermala
One of the summit villages in the Forbidden Mountains, Thermala must rely on helium-filled sky galleys for its supplies, for it is higher than Kangduk, the terminus of the Paraceratherium caravans. Most people and mammals who grow up in this center of weaving and storytelling leave it only once, at age seventeen, to experience life in the lowlands of Dinotopia.

Teleost
Teleost is one of the "windmill villages" in a region of terraced farms carved in the hills near Chandara. A steady breeze sweeps up the valley, turning the sails of a variety of wind-operated devices. Plowing is accomplished by the Anchiceratops using a see-saw plow, which, unlike a standard plow, can easily change direction in the narrow terraces.

Chandara
The legendary capital of Dinotopia's east, Chandara has long been shrouded in mystery and was closed off in recent times from western traders and travelers. Several times in its nearly 6,000-year history, waves of invading saurians have tried to plunder the Chandara riches, but each group has been converted and absorbed by the magic of the city. The city borders the Zhengtao River. Concentric canals and broad avenues radiate like spokes around the central hub of the Imperial Palace. In this remote and lofty height lives the beloved and elusive emperor Hugo Khan.

What happens when I arrive?
You wake up, shipwrecked on the beach. A few NPC farmers and their dinosaur companions will come to your aid and take you to Sauropolis, to the hatchery where you are given a network scroll. It's not far. On the way you can handwave the farmers answering the basic questions--where is this (Dinotopia), how did I get here (looks like a shipwreck to me), and what do I do now (you'd best settle in).
How does the network scroll work?
Simply write on it and your entry is echoed across every network scroll in Dinotopia. Alternatively, touch it and speak to it, and it will record an audio or video entry. Scroll downwards to read entries by other people.
What about the language barrier?
All player characters can understand each other and all of the humans in Dinotopia. Dinosaurs can speak, but can only write in the Dinotopian alphabet. Characters must learn to read that if they'd like to read what the dinosaurs are saying. All entries on the network scrolls appear in your character's native language.
So I can do pretty much anything here?
Within reason, yes. It's very much a sandbox sort of place geared at slice of life, however crazy one's life may be. Set up shop. Make a home. Settle in, you'll be here a long time.
Even be evil?
Yes please! As there are not mod-run antagonists at this time, player run antagonists are more than welcome.
Even kill people?
Be aware that the island of Dinotopia has a fully functioning legal system. You'll want to make sure you aren't caught if you plan to do something of that nature, otherwise you may be doing most of your RPing from a cell.
How does death work?
You wake up with nothing but your clothes on your person, regardless of what you were carrying, in the hatchery. No one seems to know how or why this is. Any items you had on you besides your clothes are lost.
Can we canon update our characters?
Due to the fact that your characters cannot leave the island, canon updates are not possible at this time.
What is the character limit?
Currently the character limit is five, with no more than two from the same canon.
Can I bring an OC?
Think about who made this game. Think about your question.
Are AUs allowed?
AU versions of canon characters are allowed, for example "What if Neville was the chosen one instead of Harry?"'s Neville is allowed. AU OCs are not allowed. For example "What if Emperor Palpatine had a daughter?"'s daughter is not allowed. These characters need to be okayed with Tally before joining, though.
Are there age limits?
No, your characters can be any age, and the players can be any age.
So we can RP smut and gore?
As long as it's marked and friends locked, yes. Remember to trigger warn any potentially triggering content.
What about pregnancy?
Pregnancy is not allowed at this time.
Are powers limited?
No, powers are not limited. Please be responsible roleplayers and don't abuse this.
Tell me more about the dinosaurs!
Dinosaurs in Dinotopia are not pet-like. They are sentient creatures in and of themselves, capable of writing and communicating with humans. They may not be kept as pets, but they may be befriended.

You awaken on the shore of the ocean. The remains of a shipwreck are around you. But don't worry, you're not alone. A few farmers and their dinosaur companions are hurrying over to you, making sure you're all right. They'll be happy to take you to Sauropolis, where you can settle in and make yourself at home. You'd best be ready to make a living, as well, because no one yet has been able to escape from the island of Dinotopia. Fierce weather and dangerous reefs destroy any boats that try to leave. You'll wind up washed up on the beach once again if you try.

Welcome to Dinotopia! Once your character arrives in Sauropolis, they'll be given a scroll at the hatchery. Writing on the scroll copies it to every other connected scroll in the network. Touching it and speaking to it records video or audio (it seems to know which you'd prefer at any given time). While you can stay at the hatchery in exchange for only chores, it's a busy place. You'll want to find employment and move out as soon as possible. Unless you like dinosaur babies.

In Dinotopia, people and dinosaurs live in peaceful interdependence. The humans come from all places and times—shipwrecked men and women rescued by the dolphins and carried to the shores of this land apart from time. The dinosaurs appreciate the skills and liveliness of Homo sapiens, while humans benefit from the dinosaurs' experience of more than 100 million years of survival. (It should be noted that not all dinosaurs participate in this harmonious exchange. There are a few meat eaters on the island.) All of the dinosaurs in Dinotopia correspond to actual fossil species.

Arthur Denison's journals give evidence of civilization going back more than 5,000 years in Dinotopia. There have been periods of advanced technology, warfare, and empire building, all of which have left their traces on the architecture and culture of the present-day island. Among the few who have succeeded in escaping the island is a saurian architect-scribe named Djhuty, who navigated through Dinotopia's protective circle of storms and reefs, and in his retirement established the Egyptian civilization.

The early Dinotopian dinosaurs left footprint messages in the form of three-toed dinosaur tracks on muddy and sandy riverbanks. These combinations of tracks became the official dinosaur language, used to communicate with humans. In Chandara, Footprint Amphitheatres allow dinosaurs to write stories for the amusement of an entire audience.

Respect
Respect your fellow players and treat them as you would wish to be treated. The golden rule is in effect here. When in doubt, if you can't be nice, be an adult and avoid the other person.
Activity
One post or one thread with five comments from your character per month. It's disrespectful to your fellow players to character squat.
Don't godmode, infomod, or power game.
Your character is neither all knowing nor all powerful. Remember to allow them to fail at things in game, and to keep your OOC knowledge out of your characters' minds.
ICA=ICC
In character actions yield in character consequences. Be prepared to reap what your characters sow, and don't be surprised if things come back to haunt them.
IC=/=OOC
The actions and opinions of characters in the game do not necessarily represent the opinions of the players portraying them. Conversely, do not use your character as a mouthpiece to speak your own opinion or torment the characters of players you don't like.
